After an extended break caused by the absence of the German Grand Prix F1 heads to Hungaroring this weekend for the 29th consecutive running of the Hungarian Grand Prix. McLaren Honda go into the last race of the first half of the season beleaguered but still optimistic that refinements and upgrades will bring them another step forward. It has been confirmed by the
FIA
that McLaren Honda may use its newly-awarded 6th engine at will. With a significant upgrade package widely known to be in the works it remains unclear whether the team will stick to its plan to introduce it in the second half of the season or debut it at the Hungaroring; a decision that will likely not be made until the first practice session of the weekend. Given the drivers’ affinity for this circuit, reliability and even incremental upgrades could produce a [low] points finish for at least one of the cars.
Elsewhere on the grid we can expect the same old story up front with the Silver Arrows leading the way and Ferrari and Williams battling for P3-P6. The wildcard team to watch for in that battle is Force India who are looking to build on the progress seen in the last two grands prix.
