Formula 1 has landed in the Arab peninsula of Qatar for its second Grand Prix in the country after a year off in 2022! Set 22 miles North of the capital city of Doha, Losail International Circuit has hosted MotoGP since 2004. The circuit features a 1km long front straight connecting a complex of turns that has been likened to Silverstone. This Grand Prix is part of the growing list of races held at night under the lights and is also a Sprint weekend.
Despite scant mentions from the team, Honda has powered Red Bull to a second consecutive Constructor’s Championship! All that’s left to do is for Max Verstappen to become World Drivers’ Champion which is is easily expected to do during Saturday’s Sprint race, only needing to score 3 points. Look for Max to solidify his status with a win on Sunday. On the AlphaTauri side the team continues to slowly make progress with its car and drivers despite Liam Lawson’s short time in F1. Look for a low points-paying position to be possible with a little luck and good execution.
Elsewhere on the grid, look for this to be a general ranking of team performance coming into the race weekend:
1. Red Bull
2. McLaren
3. Mercedes
4. Ferrari
5. Aston Martin
6. Alpine
7. Williams
8. AlphaTauri
9. Alfa Romeo
10. Haas
