Set among the picturesque hills of Spielberg, the Red Bull Ring is second only to Mexico in elevation of circuits the series visits at 2,170 feet above sea level. The circuit’s lack of long straights and short overall distance make it somewhat of a wildcard for teams who might struggle at power circuits such as Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and Baku City Circuit. For 2023 the Austrian Grand Prix will be one of the race weekends to feature the Sprint Qualifying format which consists of traditional knock-out qualifying on Friday and then a 100km sprint race on Saturday.
Red Bull bull come to their home track hoping to put on a clinic for their fans as well as the other teams on the grid. Max Verstappen seems utterly invincible at the moment. Look for him to win the race with Sergio Perez finishing in the top 4. On the AlphaTauri side look for one car in the points and the other just outside those positions.
Elsewhere on the grid, look for this to be a general ranking of team performance coming into the race weekend:
1. Red Bull
2. Ferrari
3. Aston Martin
4. Mercedes
5. Alpine
6. McLaren
7. Haas
8. AlphaTauri
9. Williams
10. Alfa Romeo
