A classic circuit and a fan favorite, Imola returns to the F1 calendar in 2022. Imola has played witness to myriad F1 history including many first poles, first wins, and Imola is also the place where Ayrton Senna tragically died in 1994. In 2022 Imola will be one of three races featuring F1’s Sprint Qualifying format.
Red Bull come to Imola with a sense of urgency and an upgrade package for the RB18. The urgency exists because, following another DNF for Max Verstappen in Melbourne, the hope of the Dutchman defending his driver’s championship becomes even harder with a dominant Ferrari at the front of the grid. Along with the upgrade package Honda is said to have gotten on top of the issue which caused the DNF . We can expect one car on the podium. On the AlphaTauri side look for one car in the points with the other following close behind.
Elsewhere on the grid, look for this to be the general expectation of team performance heading into this weekend’s Grand Prix.
