This weekend F1 heads to the Hungaroring, situated on the Northwest outskirts of Budapest, for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Pole position is key on this curvy track, which many drivers liken to Monaco without walls, where overtaking is especially difficult. As a matter of fact, the Hungaroring is the slowest permanent circuit on the F1 calendar in terms of average speed.
Red Bull will enter the weekend on a high after winning the eventful German Grand Prix. They do have a shot at repeating here but it will be tough against Ferrari and Mercedes who still have a qualifying advantage on a track where pole position is key. Toro Rosso will surely have one car in the points, two with a little luck.
Elsewhere on the grid, Mercedes should return to their top form after an uncharacteristically sloppy German Grand Prix. If Ferrari can execute they could also win and will almost certainly have a driver in the top three. McLaren is currently the favorite for best of the rest. Expect a Renault and an Alfa Romeo to be following close behind and battling each other. Racing Point will be trying to get in the points and may do so with one car. Despite running different spec. cars it looks like Haas will qualify near the sharp end of the grid but fade backward under race pace. Williams can be expected to bring up the rear despite indications from the team that progress is being made.
