It’s all about speed as Formula 1 travels to Monza this weekend for the 67th Italian Grand Prix hosted by the venue. Monza is known for its long straights that produce high top speeds and a crowd with so much passion for their home team, Ferrari, that they have their own name: the Tifosi.
Monza represents somewhat of a home Grand Prix for the Faenza-based Toro Rosso. The team expect this to be another another challenging circuit for their package with the long straights demanding high top speeds and thus high power. With no substantial upgrades from Toro Rosso or Honda reported to be introduced, their best shot at points will come if there is attrition ahead of them.
Elsewhere on the grid, Ferrari seem poised to have a good weekend in front of the Tifosi. Mercedes will try for the win but are more likely just to split the red cars. Likewise, Red Bull will try to split the Silver Arrows with a 3rd place seemingly their best possible result here. The midfield battle may look more like what we saw at Spa with Force India replacing Renault as the main challengers to the Ferrari-powered Haas cars. Chasing that group will likely be a Renault and a Sauber. McLaren and Williams will more than likely suffer here as neither team has the right combination of power and downforce.
