F1 has arrived in Sao Paulo Brazil for the 46th running of the Brazilian Grand Prix, the penultimate race of the season. Having witnessed a myriad of Formula 1 history over the years, Interlagos holds a special place in the hearts of fans and drivers. It also holds the distinction of being one of two counterclockwise circuits on the F1 calendar.
McLaren Honda will aim for a double points finish in not only the penultimate Grand Prix of the season but their penultimate Grand Prix as a team. The Woking-based squad hopes the strategic taking of penalties at previous races will leave them with fresh, latest spec. power units that can propel the team to good results. It has also been said that significant engine mapping improvements were made for the Mexican Grand Prix that can apply to the remaining races.
Elsewhere on the grid, just because Hamilton clinched his fourth WDC title in Mexico doesn’t mean the battle at the front of the field slows down. Ferrari will want to save face and end the season on a high, proving what it is capable of. It’s probably safe to say that Red Bull is a threat to any position, including first place, and we shouldn’t be surprised if they split the top two teams. Force India is a safe bet after the top three teams. From there we can expect a battle between Renault and Williams; the former wanting to get back to good form after an embarrassing Mexican Grand Prix, the latter with Stroll who is finding his stride and Massa who will be campaigning his final home Grand Prix in a F1 car (again). Haas will be battling Toro Rosso hoping for some luck to work into points-paying positions with its under-developed chassis. Sauber will round out the order.
